RADICAL ACCEPTANCE
It all starts here.
ACCEPTANCE is recognizing the facts that are true.
RADICAL, meaning going to the root or origin.
RADICAL ACCEPTANCE is acceptance with your
whole mind, body, soul, heart.
RADICAL ACCEPTANCE is opening to
fully experiencing reality in the present moment.
Pain + Nonacceptance = Suffering
Radical Acceptance transforms unbeatable suffering into more ordinary pain. There is nothing "ordinary" about the pain you face, I understand. Know that pain is a beautiful life force that tells you something is wrong. It's a natural signal and a gift. Pain is there to help us. We need pain. It tells us what is injured, what needs our attention. Suffering, on the other hand, is a choice we make. And a good first step to end your suffering is learning how to practice Radical Acceptance. It is THEN that we can begin to live in our power, feel and release our pain and experience our fullest life!
NOW, all of that is easier to understand cognitively but more challenging as a practice in real time. Intellectually, we get it. So, now what? There's no secret formula and process or magic elixer. There's work involved.
"It is what it is."
"This too shall pass."
"Allow. Embrace. Let go."
Yes! That is exactly what we are talking about! But not as an excuse or a convenient bypass to just sit deeper in the pain and ignore everything. Because, yeah, "the truth hurts". It can be painful. And what do most of us do when we are hurting or in pain? We have a reflex. We avoid it. Or we do nothing. Or we make demands on the people or things we think hurt us to make it right. We fight it, resist it, whatever it takes not to have to feel it. We do things that hurt us more in the long run, even healthy things as a cover up to avoiding it. We feel like a victim. A victim of our circumstances, of ourselves, of our body, of our environment.
But none of it has gotten you to where you wanted to be.
I am here to reassure you, Radical Acceptance does NOT mean resignation, or giving in, or giving up. It is empowerment. It is the process of letting go and of releasing that false sense of control. It is the dissolving of resistance.
And then what? Then you can focus your energy on what you can control. And really, what does that even mean? What can we truly control? We can control our intentions. And with your energy focused on living in your intentions, you are the leader of our own life.
RADICAL ACCEPTANCE is the full acceptance of what is happening INSIDE you.
